The Arab world extends over an area of more than 13,333,296 square kilometers. It occupies the area from the Atlantic Ocean to the west, reaching the Arab Sea and the Arabian Gulf to the east. It includes 22 countries stretching between the continents of Asia and Africa, all of which share the language, history and civilization. The land is about 400,652,486 people, and the industry in the Arab world has a long history.

The industry depended on the needs of people, such as clothes, food and household items, which were simple industries that could be controlled by labor and the other, which is using animals, but thanks to the activation of industry in the Arab world to "Mohammed Ali al-Kabir", which made Egypt a modern industrial state in its time, by the introduction of many factories to Egypt, but the disappearance of Mohamed Ali from the rule of Egypt, caused the decline of Arab domestic industry and inability to compete Foreign industries. With the development of means of transport and communication, communication between the Arab countries became easier, and the scientific missions began to train and gain experience.

The fundamentals of industry in the Arab world

In the Arab world, there are various elements for achieving industrial production, such as

  • Raw materials: The Arab world is one of the rich areas of raw materials. This is the abundance of agricultural products needed for the manufacture of new foodstuffs needed by humans. The most important products are cotton, sugarcane, beet and many other products, And internal resources.

  • Driving forces: This type of element is characterized by abundant mineral resources extracted from the earth, such as oil and gas, in addition to the ability to generate solar energy and electricity.

  • Labor: It is noteworthy that this item is the most abundant among the rest of the components, and Arab countries turn their attention to the need to expand in the training and rehabilitation of the workforce.

  • Capital: This was the result of the discovery of oil wealth and natural gas, which made the capital going on in the oil countries and thus encourage the establishment of industry.

The size of industry in the Arab world

The countries of the Arab world are not considered first-class countries, but most of their industries are consumer, because of the access to the raw materials they produce and the availability of the equipment and technical and administrative skills necessary to sustain them. In spite of this, the Arab world is the source of many industries, because of its richness in natural raw materials, especially the manufacture of oil and natural gas. Saudi Arabia is the largest country in the world producing oil, followed by the Arab countries in Iraq, Kuwait, UAE, Algeria, Libya and Egypt. Arab countries in the oil industry only, but also in the manufacture of iron and steel raw, in addition to the industries of metals, foodstuffs, construction materials, petrochemicals, and textile.
